Mavis's Story...
Mavis is a one year old female Shih Tzu that was allowed to roam loose in the subdivision where she lived. She was never indoors and had limited human contact. She spent a month adjusting to life in a home and with people and today you would never know it. Mavis loves other animals, and she now adores people although she is shy when she first meets you. Mavis also loves being held on her back like a baby and will literally fall asleep like that. She is housetrained and kennel trained. She is learning to walk on a leash but doesn't care for it too much. She is only vocal when she is really excited otherwise she is very quiet. She has spurts where she will run and play but she's mostly lower medium energy. Mavis is fully vetted and heartworm negative.Adoption fee is $225.00 for this pet. This generally includes age appropriate vaccines, spay/neuter, a wellness exam, dewormer, fecal, hw and flea preventative that is given while in our care, microchip and sometimes registration depending on the company, as well as any other medications or procedures needed while in our care. email for an adoption application.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Mavis, a Metairie Shih Tzu dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shih Tzu for sale in Metairie, or seeking a Shih Tzu dog from a breeder in Metairie.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Metairie already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Metairie breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shih Tzu breeders who help with Shih Tzu rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Metairie paves the way for another one to be saved.
