My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Good With Kids: Kids over 10.
Good With Other Dogs: Yes
Good With Cats: Unknown
Housetrained: Yes
Crate Trained: Yes
Walks Nicely On A Leash. Misty loves going for walks.
Knows Basic Commands: Some
Energy Level (Couch Potato, Moderate or High): Moderate
**Special Needs: Missy has arthritis in her neck, and may also have other pain issues that make her YELP suddenly and loudly. Specialists have seen her, but the cause of the yelping remains a mystery. She loves people, but may not tolerate prolonged petting or handling.

Arrival story: Missy came from a rural shelter where there was little chance that she would get adopted.

Approximate age / weight: 10 years young and 11 lbs.

Personality: What a friendly little cutie! We think that Missy is a Pomeranian / Chihuahua mix. Missy is good with people, kids, and other dogs and may be happiest if she is in a home with another small dog friend. She barks at dogs, especially large dogs, but gets along with them after a proper introduction. She is playful with small dogs. Missy is crate-trained and house-trained (but may have occasional accidents). She is content in her crate while no one is home but otherwise prefers to be out and about.

Missy has had a dental with 16 rotten teeth removed, had her cherry eye corrected and cysts on her ovaries removed with her spay surgery. She also had some benign mammary tumors removed.

Forever home: Our lively little Missy would be perfect for an experienced dog owner looking to care for a special needs dog. Because we don't know the cause of Missy's yelping, we don't know if she will get better, worse or stay the same, so there is a possibility of future medical issues and expenses. She would enjoy living with a small canine pal or a home where she is not left alone for long hours
