My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

PENNY LANE. I am a 4.5 year old miniature dachshund, spayed female, red-white dapple, weighing in at a very nice 13 pounds. My life has been full of disruptions recently so I need a little tender loving care to bring out my potential. I have lots, but at the moment I am a little anxious because things keep changing and I don't know where and to whom I belong. I don't ask for much. I just want lots of attention, a warm lap to sit in, cuddling and a bit of training. I know to go outside to potty, but I need to get into a routine so you'll know when I need to go outside. Also if we could go to doggie training classes together, I am sure we can both learn the same command language and I can follow your instructions to the T. I want to learn and am willing and able. I'd love you to work at home, so you will have time for me and I won't feel as if I've been deserted (again) when you leave. I've told you some of my troubles, but you should know that I am beautiful, loving and would make a great pet.

- Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same sex in a home and children need to be 10 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer no smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc) Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember these are rescues, many were surrendered because of these issues. All our dogs are fully vetted, including all shots, wormer & flea protection, nails trimmed, the works. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $375, no exceptions as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training. Can you give her a happy, carefree life that she deserves? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jrangan@comcast.net - the adoption committee will be in touch with you within 48 hours so please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
