My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Barney Fife and Impa are in need of a home! They a sweet, bonded pair of cats who are just looking to settle down together. Brought to Tree House after spending a few years in a cage at an animal control facility in Indiana, these two cats are eager to receive affection anytime the opportunity presents itself. Barney, soft, beige, and terribly handsome, was born around October of 2006. Impa, a lovely gray tabby, was born around 2009. They absolutely adore each other and are usually found snuggling, wrapped up in an embrace. However, currently they are in a foster home, because there is not a room at Tree House for us to keep them together. Impa has tested negative for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV)*, while Barney Fife has tested positive (though he is very healthy otherwise). Since FIV is passed from cat to cat through a deep bite, we are confident that it is safe for them to remain in a home together, so we are hoping to adopt them directly out of foster care into a forever home of their own!
*Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) causes a weakening of the immune system in cats. It's often compared to human HIV, but FIV is not transferable to humans or other species. It is also difficult to transfer to other sterilized cats, and we believe that mixed FIV and non-FIV households can work if managed properly. If kept indoors in a stress-free environment, with regular medical care and high-quality nutrition, most FIV+ cats live long and healthy lives. Tree House staff can help answer your questions to see if an FIV+ cat is the right choice for you. FIV+ cats adopted from Tree House are eligible for a lifetime veterinary-care plan that includes a free annual exam and discounted treatments.
