My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Skylar was at a kill shelter because her owner had NO time for a puppy! Believe us, it was their loss. What a wonderful dog! She is 7 months old and 39 pounds when she arrived on July 20th. Little Skylar arrived today hot and tired, but still pleasant. She has explored every inch of my house and yard, met my dogs, and is ready to start her new life. She did have an accident when she first arrived but has been learning to go outside since. She is a happy-go-lucky kind of girl ready to play at any time. She does not seem to have had training but does seem willing to please. A little time spent with this sweet girl is sure to be rewarded. She showed her lab parentage by splashing in the pool and putting her whole face in the water. We will have to see how far she takes her love of water as she spends more time here. She has webbed feet but must be mixed with a smaller breed because she is not a big dog.

UPDATE: Now that this wonderful girl has had a chance to settle into the dog routine of our home, we can really see what a super good dog she is. Easy going happy little love bug who is smart as can be. She is quickly learning her basic commands and showing herself to be a very trainable. She is willing to learn with the assistance of treats. She enjoys splashing her face and paws in the pool in this hot weather especially after playing in the yard. She is so funny as she liked to be in the sun while resting on a diving board. Silly girl. After a busy day she's happy to curl up at your feet for a nap. Sky is a special dog and will be a joyful addition to her new forever home. When she went for her photo shoot, Sheryl offered some treats if she would sit, lay down etc. After just a few minutes, she was picking things up very quickly. She only needed someone to work with her. Meet this girl one time and you will be hooked! She is a true joy to be around. She does fine on a leash, easy to correct.

UPDATE: You can touch this girl when she eats. No aggression at all. She also eats by other dogs without an issue of aggression. If it were up to her, she would share dog bowls. She is so silly! She continues to be a very sweet girl. She gets along with everyone she meets, both human and canine. She is so happy to have toys to play with. She shows that she is a puppy that enjoys those toys. She does not destroy our dog toys. She is sleeping in a crate at night. She fusses a couple of minutes and then settles for the night. She sleeps through the night with no issue. She is crate trained as she has no accidents in there at all. Her energy level is appropriate for her age. She will run around in the yard and play, she is not hyper. She will play with the young dog in the home when allowed. She truly likes to be at our feet when we watch TV or while I am at my desk.

UPDATE: Skylar will bark when someone comes to the home. She stops when told. She does not bark unless there is a reason. She is not hyper in anyway. She has normal energy. She can go to a home with or without a dog. She is fine by herself or with canine company. Normal activity will keep her busy. She is a pleasure. She is learning to go potty outdoors by getting on a schedule and being praised when she does her business. We have had 2 accidents in 5 days. Not so bad for a dog that was not housebroken when she arrived. She is learning. Believe us, this dog is worth the effort, she is a fantastic girl!

UPDATE: Skylar is doing great with the house-breaking. She is going to the door now and standing there letting me know she has to go out. She has been accident free. We are so proud of her, she has shown us all along that she is a great dog. She continues to prove it! She is also silly. She did not swim in the pool but sure loves to use her paws to fish around in the water from the edge. Today she went fishing in the pool. She caught the shark clorinator and pulled it out. LOL She is so much fun to be around.
