My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Davis is a 2 yr old male who was the subject of a cruelty case prior to being placed in the B.A.R.C. program. With a face like his, we can’t imagine why anyone would be cruel to him. Davis has tested positive for heartworms and is waiting for treatment. Davis was underweight when he entered the program but he is gaining the needed weight in his foster home and when he grows back into his head and feet, he will be a good sized boy. Davis is a sweet boy and is gentle with children of all ages (he was surrounded by children ranging from 2 years to 15 years during his Thanksgiving holiday). He has proven himself to do well when crated, though he needs a tad bit of coaxing to get in the crate (but his foster parents have learned if you put a milk bone in first, he has no problems going after it). Davis seems to be completely housebroken and has not had any accidents in his foster home or his crate. He loves going outside and will stand and look out his foster parents door, nose butted up against the door, when he needs to go out. Davis likes going for rides and if he is outside with you or anyone else that will open a vehicle door for him, he will be more than happy to jump inside; whether it is on the drivers-side, passenger-side, or the back seat – he’s in for it!! He is very good on his leash and doesn’t pull much except for the first couple of minutes when he is wound up and ready to go, but we are working on that. He knows not to jump up on people when they come up to him or enter through the front door. When he is asked to jump up while you are standing he does it very gently and hugs you instead of putting his paws up on your stomach. Davis is a very intelligent Boxer and learned how to sit within a couple of days and knows that he is not allowed on the furniture in his foster parent’s house (but we think he prefers the blanket on the floor anyways). Davis gets along well with the dogs he has come into contact with such as Casey (his foster Boxer Sister – a BARC Boxer adopted by Davis’ foster parents) and two Chihuahua’s. He also loves to lie on the floor and chew on his raw-hide bone, taunting his foster sisters – who are not afraid of taking it from him, even the little Chihuahua’s. He doesn’t as much as growl at them but goes and looks for the other ones. If you are looking for a Boxer with a great personality, loving, loyal, laidback and gentle then Davis is your man. Fill out an application and let’s get this guy adopted. Davis is currently being fostered in the Gainesville area by Eric and Kim.
