Hica's Story...
Hica is a 1 year old female mixed breed dog that appears to be a mix of Border Collie, Lab and perhaps something else. She is thick and stocky and has a medium-sized frame. Hica came to us when someone found her in a rural area. The finders held her for a while, until we could squeeze her into our Shelter. Hica is an all-around fun dog. She is very expressive and has an outgoing personality. She enjoys playing ball and exploring. She could probably stand to lose a few pounds, but she does seem to have a large frame anyway. She’s spayed and current with all vaccinations. Since she has already been found loose in the country, we don’t think she’d make a good farm dog. Her adoption fee is $75. We utilize a short adoption application form to assess compatibility between dogs and their prospective homes. This form is a simple one-sided Microsoft Word document and it can be e-mailed to you upon request. If you would like to receive the form via e-mail, or if you have any other questions, please send us an e-mail message.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Hica, a Austin Border Collie/Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Border Collie/Labrador Retriever for sale in Austin, or seeking a Border Collie/Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Austin.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Austin already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Austin breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Border Collie/Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Border Collie/Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Austin paves the way for another one to be saved.
