Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Daphne is a beautiful brindle Catahoula Hound mix (so we think) and is about one year old. She is small in size and currently weighs 44 pounds. Daphne was found at a very busy intersection, hungry, and not looking well. She was skinny and had a severe skin infection due to mites and flea allergies. Since being treated with antibiotics and ivermectin, she is looking quite well, and feeling playful.
She is an absolute sweetheart who is well socialized and adores people and children. She plays well with other dogs but is not good with cats. If you are looking for a sweet tempered, happy-go-lucky girl, she might be the one for you.
Daphne is loving and carefree. She is playful and energetic, but not hyper, loving to cuddle with you on the couch. Daphne can be a little mouthy when she gets excited but responds well to verbal commands. She is bright, eager to please, and learns quickly.
She knows “sit”, “wait”, “stay”, “release”, “leave it”, “down”, “come”, and “off”. Daphne is crate trained, house trained, and uses a dog door. She sleeps in her crate at night, occasionally coming out to sleep on her dog bed next to my bed. Daphne walks well on leash, but will tend to pull if she sees something interesting, like a squirrel.
Daphne will need your guidance to learn what is and is not acceptable behavior. Providing her with much affection is all too easy, but discipline and exercise are just as important in ensuring she will be a truly happy and well balanced dog.
Daphne currently lives with two other dogs and three cats. She is constantly testing the limits of the cats, so we believe she would do well in a home without cats. She likes to spend her time in the fenced front yard with the two resident dogs, watching the neighborhood, and occasionally interacting with those that pass by. She will bark to alert you someone is there, but then she’ll be quiet. She is not one to keep barking (unless you are a squirrel teasing her).
Daphne enjoys car rides and in fact is very well behaved in the car. She sticks her snout up to the window and watches the scenery go by.
Daphne is spayed, current on shots and flea preventative, micro-chipped, and tested negative for heartworm. She is being fostered in Sacramento. If you are interested in meeting her, please send an email to request an adoption application. There is a $200.00p tax-deductible adop0tion fee, which helps to cover a portion of the expenses of all our rescued dogs.
