I am already spayed, housetrained, up to date with shots, good with kids, and good with cats.
Jenny is a new momma. We brought her home on 12/12/12 and she had babies (10!) on 12/19/12. She is a great mom but has weaned the little ones and time to find everybody a new home. She is super loving, loves to be petted and hugged on. I have a 6 year old daughter and Jenny loves her. She does not like my poodles at all :( but doesn't seem to be bothered by the cats. Great watch dog, only barks if something is out of place. She needs a big yard or at the very least, a lot of exercise. She is heartworm positive and we are getting her on meds now that the babies are weaned and she will be ready for her forever home when treatment is complete. She looks like a bengal tiger ...her markings are absolutely gorgeous. I cannot get a good photo of her though as she constantly wants to eat my camera.
She will be an awesome addition to someone's family! I would keep her but she needs a fully fenced yard and to be outside. She is paper trained (she came to me that way so I know she had a home at one time) . so technically, I'm saying she's house trained!
she does well on a leash, and she needs a family that is active. She loves loves to roam our 'back 40' and would be great with someone that hikes or bikes. She can 'shake' hands (when she's in the mood), she understands basic commands and obeys them. She likes to 'jump' on you, but its just excitement. We're working on that...telling her 'down' usually does the trick.
All of the animals listed by San Antonio Pets Alive! were rescued from euthanasia in San Antonio, Texas. Over 20,000 animals were euthanized in San Antonio in 2011, and we are working hard to turn San Antonio into a no-kill city. By adopting a rescue animal from SAPA!, you not only save the life of that animal but the life of the additional animal who gets to take their place in a foster home.
If you are interested in saving a life and adopting from San Antonio Pets Alive!, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with the pet's name and ID #. Please allow us up to 24 hours to respond as all fosters work with us on a volunteer basis. Rescue Group Info...
San Antonio Pets Alive (SAPA!) is a new organization that will be modeled after the very successful Austin Pets Alive (APA). APA was instrumental in helping Austin achieve their goal of no longer euthanizing healthy, adoptable pets from the city shelter. SAPA has teamed up with Animal Care Services in order for the city of SA to reach their no-kill goal.
In partnership with San Antonio’s Animal Care Services, we are implementing innovative and progressive programs to:
Rescue as many pets as possible off of the daily “euthanasia list”. In our rescue program, to not duplicate work of other agencies, we focus solely on the pets who have already been passed over by other groups and the shelters’ adoption programs and create programs to save their lives and find them new homes.
Our rescue program is focused 100% on the dogs and cats who are about to be killed. We wait until the shelters have chosen the pets they want for their adoption programs and other rescue groups have pulled the pets that they can take, then we go in and rescue the rest that we can fit into our programs.
