Molly's Story...
My name is Mollie, a/k/a “the Mollster”, because I’m pretty tough for a seven month-old. I was rescued by Barrio Dogs volunteers on the Fourth of July. They found me sleeping on a bench in Hidalgo Park, where I had been abandoned. The neighbors said I’d been living in the park all by myself for over two weeks.

When I was rescued, I had a severe case of demodectic mange (the non-contagious kind) and my skin was painfully raw and sunburned. But I was heartworm free and otherwise healthy. So after lots of medicine, special baths, conditioning treatments, and general TLC, I am looking and feeling much better!

I am about 35 pounds and not going to get much bigger. I am not sure what breed I am. I am white with lots of black spots on my ears and belly, so maybe part Dalmatian and part something smaller.

I have been spayed and am up to date on all of my vaccinations. I am housetrained, walk well on a leash and know how to “sit” and “stay.” I get along well with my two foster-sister dogs, both older and bigger than I am. I give them their space when necessary, but when they want to play, I am ready! I guess I learned at an early age how to have fun, but also how to stay out of trouble!

I love people and wag my tail so often that they also call me “Wigglebutt.” My favorite things are snuggling with my people friends, playing with my squeaky toys, wrestling with my foster sisters, soft dog beds, and meal time.

Did I mention I’m an angel in the car? I am a naturally happy dog with a bright outlook on life and a lot of love to give! If you’re interested in knowing more about me, please contact brittany@barriodogs.org.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Molly, a Houston Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Houston, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Houston.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Houston already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Houston breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Houston paves the way for another one to be saved.
