Princess Amberella's Story...
Princess Amberella is a female, spayed, 3 year old Rat Terrier/Beagle cross and weighs 30 lbs. She came to be at the NHS because she was transferred from a pound in the States. She seems to be a quiet dog, who is very eager to please and thinks that she is a lap dog as she would prefer a lap over a floor! She is a bit scared of her surroundings though, and can be seen trembling in her cage at tikes. She does know sit, shake paw and lie down for the most part, she just doesn’t stay in a sit or down position for very long. She loves belly and ear rubs and was okay with getting her nails clipped. She seems curious of small rodents but was a bit scared of the cats when they were all hissing at her. She would probably be okay in a home with cats, but it is too soon to say whether she would be good with other dogs. At the present time, Amberella may be best in a home with older children. Princess Amberella has been at the NHS since October 20, 2007.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Princess Amberella, a Port Hope Beagle/Rat Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Beagle/Rat Terrier for sale in Port Hope, or seeking a Beagle/Rat Terrier dog from a breeder in Port Hope.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Port Hope already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Port Hope breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Beagle/Rat Terrier breeders who help with Beagle/Rat Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Port Hope paves the way for another one to be saved.
