Here's what the humans have to say about me:
It was June of this year when we rescued Summer from the East LA shelter. The PRC caught a glimpse of her via email and spent the weekend arranging for her to travel to us. A plea had been sent out to rescue groups to try and save her from euthanasia, and because of her medical condition, a rescue was her only chance of getting out alive. Volunteers from all over OC and LA rallied to get her into our care. She was a bag of bones, with severe hair loss, open soars, and painfully lactating breasts. It was clear she had been used for breeding and was not cared for appropriately in a long time. Within 48 hours, Summer made huge changes. Immediately the excitement of getting treated like a puppy took over. She has thoroughly enjoyed every step of her progress at The PRC. Her weekly routine consists of playing with other dogs, field trips to events and volunteer outings, a walk every 2 hours, delicious food and all the snuggles and belly scratches she could ever ask for. Summer has never met a dog or person she didn't like. She is such a playful, happy, girl. She has made full recovery and is now ready for adoption. A dog like Summer will be eternally grateful to her next owner. She is ready to love and be loved. Summer is a medium sized, Spayed, Staffordshire Terrier. She gets along GREAT with other dogs, male or female, and would make a great playmate for big or small dogs as well. Men, women, and children, of all ages, should stay calm when being licked to death. If you giggle, she will keep going. Come meet the girl we all fought for and see just how deserving she is of forever friendship!
ADOPTION PROCESS:
Pets are visited by appointment (times are flexible). Please email Casey Oliver at adopt@thepetrescuecenter.org to arrange a meeting time. This process allows potential adopters to spend adequate time with their prospective pet and prevents long wait times.
All interested parties must fill out an Adoption Application, which will be reviewed to find the best possible match. You can find our application online at: http://www.thepetrescuecenter.org/adoptapet.html. Completed applications can be faxed to (949) 743-5878 or emailed to: adopt@thepetrescuecenter.org
Our adoption fee is $300 for dogs and $150 for cats, and includes spay/neuter, microchip, flea treatment, deworming, regular veterinary check-ups, and current vaccinations. This fee helps to defray the costs of medical care, supplies and boarding while the animals are in our care.
The Pet Rescue Center is a 501c3 non-profit organization that seeks to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome pets from high kill shelters and is temporarily housed inside the Alicia Pet Care Center at 25800 Jeronimo Rd. Suite 100, Mission Viejo, CA 92691.
