Isabelle's Story...
Are you looking for LOVE this summer? I am a 1 year old affectionate, loyal lady that will be the best companion for an experienced dog owner! I am a quirky girl that will make you smile with my humorous antics (including giving "high tens"), but I also need a home to guide me through some of my more sensitive issues. I can be nervous meeting new people and animals, so I need a home with someone who is patient and uses positive reinforcement with no small kids. My foster mom says I'm super smart and more like a Border Collie in a Chihuahua body. That means once I am settled into my new home I would be great at extra-curricular training like nose work or agility classes!

I hate to use the dreaded phrase "project dog" but I am a special girl and if you give me a try to you will be rewarded richly. My heart is pure and my love for you will make you melt. Are you the right person for me? Fill out an application at pixieproject.org so we can schedule a meet. I am fixed, vaccinated and microchipped. My adoption fee is $180 and I am currently in foster care.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Isabelle, a Portland Chihuahua dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua for sale in Portland, or seeking a Chihuahua dog from a breeder in Portland.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Portland already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Portland breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua breeders who help with Chihuahua rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Portland paves the way for another one to be saved.
