Dooley's Story...
Dudley Dooley came to us from a hoarder house in March 2013. Thankfully Hilltop Humane Society rescued him from the house. His ear was torn and it was dangling by a thread. Dr. Salter had to do emergency reconstruction surgery on his ear. Dooley was also very thin, un-neutered, diabetic, and very, very aggressive. This made it very difficult for him to be handled, not only by us, but the humane society as well. Poor angry Dooley also had a cone on to protect his now stitched ear. He ripped the cone of numerous times. This caused him to not only have multiple appointments to the vet, plus four ear surgeries on top of that. After the fourth surgery, it was suggested to hospitalize him, so that we could monitor him and nourish him back to health. It was very difficult to handle him in the beginning. Over time, he started to truly bond with us, even with everything he was going through. It took many months for his ear to heal. The poor boy had the cone on for 5 to 6 months.

That was four months ago. He is now one of the most lovable cats we know today. He is ready for a new journey with a loving companion. Diabetes never gets in the way of this guy having any fun! He loves playing and rolling around with his catnip toys. He is a huge fan of hanging out on your arm/shoulder like a funny little parrot. It is adorable, especially when he begs for you to pick him up. Dooley also LOVES other cats, even if it just means hanging out in the same room. This guy is the biggest snuggle monkey. I know that Dooley would be purrfectfor someone who is home frequently. He would also be great in a home with other cats. He is a little guy who enjoys lots of warmth and affection. 1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Dedham already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Dedham breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Dedham paves the way for another one to be saved.
