Jasmine (Courtesy post)'s Story...
from: ninasark@aol.com
Hi Everyone,

Several weeks ago a friend of mind found a very frightened skinny dog in her backyard. It took over a week of feeding before the dog would come out of her hiding place and let my friend pet her. My friend can’t keep her cuz she’s got several dogs of her own and can’t bring another one in so Jasmine (the name I gave her) is living in her fenced in backyard at this time. I was going to adopt her myself cuz I’m dogless at the moment but it turns out she’s definitely NOT cat safe and I’ve got six kitties. So I brought her back to my friend who will take care of Jasmine for a very short while. Unfortunately Jasmine must live outside and it’s so hot!

My friend brought Jasmine to her vet yesterday, got her all necessary shots, determined that she is indeed spayed, is 45 pounds, has good teeth, etc. Aside from being skinny, Jasmine is fine but extremely frightened and will bolt if given the chance. She is not chipped, is very frightened of any loud noises, quick movement or raised hands and will tuck her tail and cower if any of those things happens so my guess is she’s been abused and/or very roughly handled. She does know basic commands like ‘sit’ but definitely didn’t hear my “NO” when trying to eat my cats. She’s smart and seems to be a survivor. The vet thinks she’s a mix of Weimaraner and other sight hound. She does get along with my friend’s other dogs. She’s very sweet and appears to be grateful for the kindness my friend has shown her but is still very wary.

Please let me know if you can take this dog. I’ll be happy to transport her to you or a foster home you might have for her.
Thanx much,
n

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Jasmine (Courtesy post), a Scottsdale Weimaraner/Greyhound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Weimaraner/Greyhound for sale in Scottsdale, or seeking a Weimaraner/Greyhound dog from a breeder in Scottsdale.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Scottsdale already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Scottsdale breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Weimaraner/Greyhound breeders who help with Weimaraner/Greyhound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Scottsdale paves the way for another one to be saved.
