My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Happy is true to the Manchester breed and is an intelligent, lively, devoted pet. He is a lot of fun and is ready and up for anything you would like to do. He loves everyone and thinks that children as just the right size for a best friend. He is a sporty dog and no couch potato so an active family would suit him best. He needs to be a part of the family and included in outings and whatever fun the family gets up to. Happy is just under a year old and currently weighs 15 lbs.

Here is what his foster family had to say:

Happy is not just his name it is his definition. We recently took a road trip and he was a great buddy to have along for the ride. In all of the adventures we had which included riding on a ferry, walking around different towns, and driving for hours to get from place to place, Happy was making friends with everyone and wasn't a problem the whole trip. All Happy wants in life is to be your best friend. He is just great with everyone but I think he sees children as 'people' that are just the right size for him. He is always up for meeting new friends two or four legged. He does seem to be more relaxed with women and can sometimes take a few minutes before interacting with a strange man. He is great with all of the pets in the home from our 30lbs dog to 100lbs dog male and female. He loves cats and thinks they are a great size to play with but if the cats tell him they are not in the mood he will generally leave them alone.

Happy loves to snuggle and is very affectionate. He loves to be with his people and will do everything he can to get nice and close, the best part for him is when you cover him up with a blanket. Happy has two speeds on and off. When he is up and going he is high energy and is very playful. He looks like he always have somewhere to be but once the house calms down so does he. He is very short haired and very little shedding.

He is to small to counter surf, and although he does steal food he will let you know he really really wants it. he doesn't chew anything he shouldn't as long as he has toys to play with. He knows sit, and we are working on down. He does not know come but when you call his name he comes running to you. He desire to learn is huge and his potential is limitless. He is a very smart pup!! If he is taken out and told to go to the bathroom he will, but he hasn't learned how to signal us yet so he needs to be put out several times a day to avoid accidents. We are currently crate training and he will make a bit of a fuss when you first put him in, but he will settle down after a few minutes. We try to have between 2 hours to 8 hours in the day and 8 hours through the night but he will cry if he needs to go outside. He is walked on a harness and has shown some improvement on his leash training, but will need more work on formal walking. Obedience classes would be great for Happy.

Happy likes to explore and will go off to look around but you just call his name and he will come running back you, he has no interest in leaving his family. He loves car rides and his favourite place to ride is right behind your neck, it is nice and warm and has a great view.

Happy would be happy in any home with a loving family that he can love and they will love him back. He is a great companion to any home a single person or a bustling home with children, extended family and other furry friends. He is a pure joy to be around and he could thrive from formal training. Our family has really had a hard time not making him a part of our family because he is so special. He is the kind of dog you would have to meet as it is hard to put in to words. The only words we can say is his name Happy - it sums him up.

If you think Happy would be a good addition to your family, please submit an application for consideration.
