My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there! I'm Roxy, a 9 year old Schnauzer, and do I have a story to tell you! When Young at Heart met me, I was a mess. Literally, a matted, filthy mess. You see, Ihad gone from being a family dog, to being tossed into the backyard to live, to being dumped at a shelter at 9 years of age because my people got "tired of"me. When Young at Heart met me, I was incredibly sweet and loving (of course!), and it was more than obvious I had been neglected for a while, and they rescued me right then. And it's a good thing they did! As they walked me, it became apparent I needed to see a vet ASAP. I tried to desperately pee every few seconds. When they got me to the vet, xrays showed the largest bladder stone our vet had ever seen! I probably started to have accidents in the house because of the stone, and instead of getting proper vet care, was tossed into the yard, and with a stone this size, I had been incredibly uncomfortable and suffering for quite some time. While I was under for surgery, I was carefully shaved down to my skin to remove the giant mat that my coat had become. It took over 45 minutes to remove the knotted, smelly mess that had been wrapped around me for a very long time. After surgery, I immediately felt SO much better, and I recovered nicely! And now, I am finally healed and ready for my forever home! I love, love, love people and attention, and love to snuggle. I'm a bit barky about other dogs, but once I meet the dog I'm barking at, I like them just fine. I'll need someone special to be patient as I retrain my bladder to be housebroken, as peeing around that large stone for set me back a little, and to be honest, I may never get it 100% again. But I will wear a diaper, and I hope that someone out there really wants to show me the love my family never did. A simple prescription diet will keep me stone-free, and I will repay you with kisses and wiggles! I'm so sweet and have been through so much, I really can't wait for a home to show me what true love feels like.
