Nellie's Story...
Hi! My name is Nellie, and you are going to love me…no seriously you are! I am a PEOPLE dog! Do you like to cuddle? Because I sure do! I’ll sleep with you if you’ll let me or sleep on my bed if I’m told. Hold my front paws, and I’ll ‘dance’ and give you lots of kisses!

I am a mature 11 month old spayed female pup with shiny black fur and tan markings; I’m quite the looker! I only weigh about 40 lbs., and my fosters and the vet seem to think I am a Lab/Pointer Mix. Don’t let that mix fool you! I have the cute face of a lab with gorgeous amber eyes but am pint size. Plus, I’m not hyperactive like Pointers. I like to sleep a lot, and a walk every other day or so is good for me.

If you have a dog I can play with, that gives me good exercise too, as I love playing with my fosters’ Golden Retriever. (Chasing the water out of the garden hose as you flail it back and forth is good exercise too; I love that game, because I am a good jumper!) I’m getting pretty flawless on the potty training and am much improved strutting my stuff on the leash.

I’m about to turn 1, and I would love to celebrate my Birthday with you in my forever home!

Please email us to find out which adoption event Nellie will be attending this Saturday.

She is spayed, up to date on shots, heartworm tested and microchipped. Adoption fee is $125.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Nellie, a Houston Labrador Retriever/Pointer dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever/Pointer for sale in Houston, or seeking a Labrador Retriever/Pointer dog from a breeder in Houston.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Houston already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Houston breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever/Pointer breeders who help with Labrador Retriever/Pointer rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Houston paves the way for another one to be saved.
