Rosie's Story...
Rosie is a lovely 1-2 year old girl. She is a friendly, gentle kitty who enjoys being held, petted, and loved. She will rub your legs, head bump your hand, and give lots of love, too. She’s especially sweet, and is very people oriented. At her new foster home, she greets visitors at the door! She wants a home were people will play with her, and she especially likes a stuffed catnip mouse. She’s learning to bat small toy mice around, too! She is happy to be held and sit with you to be petted, and is getting more and more comfortable in her foster mom’s lap! She wants to snuggle and spend time with her, and prefers to be the only cat in the home, so she can be the center of attention.

Rosie was found in an alley off a busy street in Washington, DC. Luckily, a Four Paws volunteer saw her late one evening and took her inside. She was very polite about being held and snuggled outside, even by a stranger, and happily went into the carrier! Her former owners did not come forward, so little Rosie is happy to be rescued.

The vet said Rosie was already spayed, and now she’s had her vaccinations updated and tests negative for FIV and FeLV. She just needs a loving, forever home where she can play with lots of new toys and her very own people, so she can have all the love and attention she deserves.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Rosie, a Merrifield Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Merrifield, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Merrifield.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Merrifield already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Merrifield breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Merrifield paves the way for another one to be saved.
