My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sandy is a sweet 13 year old Yellow Lab mix who lost her home after her owners were in a terrible accident. She, along with her Beagle companion, were brought to a local municipal shelter where they both faced imminent euthanasia simply because of their ages...thank goodness, we were able to help her. Sandy is like a teddy bear--has the softest coat and loves to be snuggled!! At thirteen, she's in great shape!! She loves to go for walks (even trots!!) and has a youthful spirit. Aside from some normal stiffness, she really gets around without a hitch. Does stairs going up with ease, but is tentative going down stairs. She seems like a happy dog who enjoys the companioship of people. While she has impaired hearing, she knows when you're around and is comforted by being stroked and loved.
Sandy LOVES to eat!! She is hardly dainty when it comes to that!! You can stick your hand in her bowl, there is no aggression. Right now, having been locked up at the shelter with crummy food, she's really enjoying meal time!! Sandy would probably be happiest in a home with adults, where she can relax, go for walks and enjoy companionship. She really is an easy dog to have around, and the kind of dog who makes you smile just being around her :o). She has the sweetest face, and she really has a way of brightening your spirits. When with her, I find myself feeling warm and fuzzy inside :o).
Sweet Sandy is the kind of dog who'll move right in like she's always been there. She sleeps through the night and settled right in the first day she got to her foster mommy's house. Please consider opening your home and heart to a senior...we are sure you will find her to be a true blessing.
