My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

What is your name?
Maybel

How old are you?
I am about 3.5-4 years old

What do you look like?
I am a 60-pound blue pit bull with amber eyes

What kind of personality do you have?
I love people and most other dogs. I LOVE to play in the yard with my dog friends but when I’m in the house my foster mom says I’m the laziest, most well behaved dog there is. I hardly ever bark and I’m fully potty trained. If I get really excited I act like a big goofy puppy but I settle down quickly when asked. I also get along great with kids of all sized. I walk well on a leash and am very food motivated so I’m easy to train with positive reinforcement. I’m very good at waiting patiently for my food and sitting like a good girl but I can be a little grabby with treats sometimes. I don’t mean to, I just really love food!! I’m super calm and lazy most of the time and while I like to run in the yard with my friends I’m a horrible person running partner, but a great movie marathon kind of girl.

Describe your perfect day.
I love to sleep in and be lazy, then enjoy some outdoor playtime with my Rico, my four legged foster brother, after that some snuggle time from my people and a good meal and I’m a very happy girl.

What is your favorite toy?
Anything that I can find to entice Rico into a game of chase!

Do you know any tricks?
I know sit, down, wait and come.

What scares you?
I don’t like when people get loud or yell. I’m a very sensitive girl. I also do have some separation anxiety issues and seem to do better either with a doggy companion or someone who is home most of the time.

Do you like cats?
I think I could get along with a cat DEPENDING on the cats personality, one that wouldn’t run from me or be afraid of me would be best.

Do you have any doggie best friends?
Yes, I LOVE my foster dog brother Rico and a few other dogs I’ve met in the neighborhood. As long as they have basic manners I seem to get along with most dogs. I love a good game of chase.

If you could be anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Snuggled up with my person after a good play session outside!

How is your health?
I’m in generally good health. Most blue dogs have allergies and I’m no exception. I have to be on special food. Currently I’m being tried on a grain free venison diet to see if that helps. I am sometimes prone to skin infections because of my allergies.

How long have you lived in your foster home?
I have been in my foster home for about 5 months now.

Who do you live with in your foster home?
I live with my foster parents, Paige and Morgan, my 2 and 5 year old human sisters and Rico, a seven year old pit bull.

Where do you hang out when you are home alone?
I prefer to hang out with Rico loose in the house. I don’t really like being crated and I currently don’t use one since someone is home most of the time. As long as theirs no little toys on the floor I stay out of trouble. I would do better with either someone who is home a lot or with a dog companion to keep me company.

Where do you sleep?
I sleep either on the dog couch that’s covered with a dog blanket or on a comfy dog bed. I NEVER jump on the people only couch but I love when they come cuddle with me on mine!!!

What do you love about your foster family?
I love that my foster family is calm and patient with me.

What was life like before you were rescued by Even Chance and brought into the welcoming arms of your foster parents?
I was picked up as a stray but my foster mom can tell I was abused. It took a little bit for me to realize that guys that reached out to pet me weren’t going to hurt me. I’m also sensitive to people who seem mad, even if it’s not with me. But I’m bouncing back from my emotional scars just fine. My foster mom says that I’m just about perfect and full of love.

Even Chance does not operate on a first come, first serve basis. In most cases we have already decided the type of home and owner we want for our dogs. These opinions are based on the temperament tests we perform prior to accepting the dog into our program and the behaviors the dogs display as they spend time in our homes. Our agency reserves the right to deny acceptance of any dog to an owner who we feel the lifestyle does not match that of the dog. We are in no way judging you or your lifestyle; we simply want to put our dogs in the best living situation possible. We take very seriously the decision we make when it comes to placing one of our dogs in a forever home. If I sound like the perfect pit bull for your family and you are interested in offering me a forever home, please do not hesitate to fill out an application here and my foster family will contact you to schedule an in-person meet and greet. We look forward to meeting any and all interested applicants.
