Gus's Story...
This little guy with the big, hopeful eyes is Gus. Gus is a 3 year old shih Tzu that was abandoned in Newark and is now at Popcorn Park where he is hoping for a fresh start in life. This adorable little guy has such a worried look about him but he's really quite gentle and relaxed. He makes friends easily and is very outgoing and personable. Little Gus enjoys a nice, leisurely stroll with one of his many new friends, and he even gets a little playful at times too. Gus is very affectionate and will stop every so often to see if you'd like to pet him or scratch his back for him. Although Gus loves everyone he meets, he prefers a home with no other dogs. Little Gus would love to start life over again with a family that will love and cherish him always. File#22732 8/9/13

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Gus, a Forked River Shih Tzu dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shih Tzu for sale in Forked River, or seeking a Shih Tzu dog from a breeder in Forked River.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Forked River already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Forked River breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shih Tzu breeders who help with Shih Tzu rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Forked River paves the way for another one to be saved.
