Walter's Story...
Walter (02-089) came to BHRG from a local shelter where he was found as a stray. He's a handsome, red & white boy who is 2 to 3 years old. Walter is extremely grateful to be rescued and has been on his best behavior. He is house-trained and very friendly. Sadly, Walter tested positive for heartworms, and he has such a heavy load, that he will have to endure two treatments which he will begin after his neuter later this week. Therefore, Walter will be in foster care for the entire summer and won't be able to go to a forever home until September. Please keep Walter in your prayers as he recovers from the damage caused by living with neglectful owners.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Walter, a Marietta Basset Hound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Basset Hound for sale in Marietta, or seeking a Basset Hound dog from a breeder in Marietta.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Marietta already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Marietta breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Basset Hound breeders who help with Basset Hound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Marietta paves the way for another one to be saved.
