My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Abby came to us from a loving home and is lovely girl. She is definitely a girl with her own mind (Schnauzer mind) and thinks she is a person. She is good with other dogs and children but generally speaking she is best on her own with her people. She seems to have a fondness for men in particular. Abby is a young adult dog of 3 years and weighs 16 lbs.

Abby was very bonded to her family and is not really sure what has happened to her world and it shows in the fact that she is anxious of strange noises and is shy when meeting new people. She is friendly with everyone but is a bit standoffish until she gets to know you. She is fine with other dogs and enjoys a game of play. On leash she will sometimes bark at strangers but she is never aggressive.

With people she feels comfortable around she is very affectionate and really wants to be a big part of your life. She has not been socialized around children so would do best in a home with no young children. She really does want to be a part of the family and is not a dog that would be good as just a companion for another pet.

She is anxious and will whine for a bit when you leave the house but we believe once she actually settles into a home and has the opportunity to become part of the family, she will relax. Abby loves to be outside, as simple as that. She will spend hours outside and you have to encourage her to come inside by giving her treats. She loves to run around and chase anything that moves.

Abby is a healthy dog overall and it is obvious that she was very well taken care of by her previous family. Abby is overall a good dog, she is well behaved - her only vice is that she does love a suede shoe here and there but very well behaved. She is completely trained although she does have selective hearing at times but overall she is great. She is house trained and is perfectly fine left on her own in the home for a normal working day. She is not a fan of the crate and would much prefer to sleep at the end of your bed. She is great on leash and walks very nicely.

Abby will require grooming throughout the year to keep her looking her best but she is a pretty girl and otherwise is easy to care for.

I would strongly recommend that Abby goes to a home with a backyard where there is space for her to run around. She seems to be more comfortable around men, so she would do best if their was a male in her life who was willing to take primary care of her. Also would also enjoy someone who loves the outdoors as she is very energetic, loves long walks and is always up for an adventure.

If you think Abby would be a good fit for your situation, please submit an application for consideration.
