***New pictures coming soon..

Approximate DOB 04/03/2012

Size Regular sized cat

History- Kiki (Sprocket's mom) was picked up as a stray.. When she ran out of time with no interest in her she was put on the list for euthanasia.. However when the Director walked in he saw she had just given birth and couldn't euthanize her and her new family.  He sent me a photo of her and her babies asking if there was any way we could take them even though we very rarily do cats.. I said yes and luckily a foster home stepped in to care for them until the babies could be adopted.. Sprocket was adopted however she keep getting what everyone thought were URIs she would get all sneezy and runny eyes- her family would take her to the vet and put her on antibiotics and it would go away but then come back.. the family returned her and so she is back with us and she is aan amazing cat.. So sweet and loving even with the dogs-- however after careful research and after consulting some cat experts in rescue we now realize she more than likely has Feline viral rhinotracheitis (FVR)-- it is not treatable but we have found that by adding Lysine to her food she doesn't have the outbreaks like she was.. So she is doing great!!! I just a little to her food and she is good.. So I am pretty happy but it is contagious so she should not be placed in a home with other cats that do not have it.. Right now she stays in a room with her mom and a litter of kittens that are all carriers of it.. So if you are wanting more than one cat and have no cats you can give some special kitties a forever home and have more than one since we have a few..

Temperament- Sweet outgoing super friendly purrs non stop.. She loves attention and she and the other cats play chase and wrestle and just have fun all the time-- and she loves the dogs.. Her best friend is a Pit Bull named Sydney...

Energy Level-  Pretty mellow overall but does like to play with the other cats...

Dogs/Cats- She is currently in a home with dogs and other cats. Loves everyone-- has no fear and just thinks everyone is her best friend..

Housetrained- Perfectly litter box trained..

Adoption fee $40 includes spay, rabies vaccine, age appropriate vaccinations, deworming, microchip, collar and tags, and all the support you need.

About Almost Home NM

About Our Rescue Group...

We are a newly formed rescue in Peralta, NM. We are still very small and currently in process of getting our 501c3 tax exempt status. It is mainly just myself, my two daughters and a small group of volunteers. We only take in animals from shelters who are scheduled to be put down. All animals are housed in my home and on my property. We started this rescue due to the simple fact that there are so many wonderful dogs dying everyday at the shelters because there just isn't enough room.We do not discriminate against any breed. Every dog has the potential to be a great family pet, working dog, or therapy dog- just as every dog has the potential to become a "dangerous dog" due to the simple fact that they all (or most anyway) have teeth and can bite when provoked or trained to obey their owners commands.
We do it for the love of the animals and the need to find forever homes for the ones impounded due to no fault of their own.

Our Adoption Process...

If you are interested in adopting from us but have questions please feel free to e-mail me.

In order to start the application process you must send us an e-mail request for an application. We will e-mail it to you as soon as possible. Then just fill it out and send it back via e-mail. Once we receive it then we can schedule an appointment for you to come out and meet the animals.

We are not an open to the public facility with specific hours of operation. We are a foster home and therefore require an application submitted before an appointment can be made and directions given out.

If you would like to adopt from out of state then you must be willing to come out to meet and adopt the pet you are interested in.. We do not ship pets nor will we meet someone somewhere.. We want adopters to come out and spend at least an hour with this pet in their environment before adopting just to ensure there is a connection. We would hate for the adoption to not work and be so far away.
