My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Name: Romeo 2 #3115
Age: 10 years
Color: Red
Coat: Smooth
Sex: Male/Neutered
Weight: Tweenie -14.5 lbs

We got a call from a gentleman that had just learned his recently deceased friend’s mother had taken the friend’s doxie to the shelter. He asked if we could please check on the dog as he was worried about this very nice boy. It turns out he was right to be worried as Romeo needed rescue due to medical issues. He had a heart murmur and he badly needed a dental. (Plus he wasn’t yet neutered). We knew this meant an $800 or so vet bill. Fortunately for Romeo and for rescue, the caller organized some friends and they donated money so that Romeo could have his medical needs met.

Romeo is following in the footsteps of some great senior boys we have gotten lately. He is as nice as he is good looking. He is aloof with strangers but very loving with those he knows. He is great with other dogs and is always inviting them to play. He may be 10 but he has big bursts of energy!

Romeo’s surrender notes to the shelter say that he slept in the garage. We think he might have spent most of his time there also. At his foster house, there is a dogloo with a cushy bed around the side of the house in a corner. Romeo discovered this and this is where we often find him during the day. We call it his man cave but we think he uses it because he is not used to spending all day in the house and also because the large number of foster dogs is a little overwhelming to him

Romeo is another very quiet dachshund. He is very unassuming and seems to have no expectations of people. He does what we want with no complaint. He is a super easy dog and due to an adoption, now holds the title of “easiest foster dog”. (Truth be told, he was about to steal the title even without the adoption).

Romeo was an only dog in his prior life, so he could be one again or he could have a friendly canine companion. Since he is not a barker, he could be an apartment or condo dog. We think he would be fine with children 12 and up.

Romeo is neutered, current on his vaccinations and he had a complete dental (he only lost two teeth!) He crates without complaint at night.

If you are interested in Romeo, please fill out the adoption application and email Lindy at linla@comcast.net.

The tax deductible donation for Romeo is $100.
