My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Name: Campbell #3116
Age: 4 Months
Color: Wheaten
Coat: Wire
Sex: Male/Neutered
Weight: 7.5 lbs (est. adult weight 11 to 14 lbs)

A transport was coming to the Bay Area from the Merced shelter. Knowing how few dogs make it out of that shelter alive, we checked to see if there were some doxies we could help. The volunteer rescue coordinator asked if we would please take a “mostly” doxie puppy. We agreed to add him to the list of dogs we were saving.

We were smitten by the puppy the minute the transport crate opened. We had no idea that we were getting a wirey little boy. We think statistically he most likely is a smooth dachshund-wire terrier mix.(although he could be a wirehair doxie – smooth doxie combo. Hard to tell at this age) Whatever he is, he certainly is cute!

Campbell is extremely people focused and loves to be with people. After a rash of dogs that are very shy, we appreciate this confident baby dog.

Campbell plays and wrestles with his foster siblings and would like a canine companion in his new home.
He is all puppy as he really gets into chewing on bones and cow hooves. Of course, since he is a puppy, we are sure he would be just happy chewing on whatever inappropriate item you leave near him.

Because Campbell is so young, he can be trained to get along well with cats and other small pets. Ideal applicants will need the following qualifications:

• Someone at home most of the day, stay-at-home moms or folks who work from home.
• Previous dachshund experience is a plus but not essential.
• Another small dog for play and companionship.
• A very secure INDOOR place for the puppy to be when no one is at home.
• Applicants must be between 25 and 65 years of age.
• No infants or toddlers, please, but we will consider families with children over 8 years old.

Campbell crates quietly at night with one of the other dachshunds. We had him neutered and removed his dangling rear dew claws. He is micro chipped and current on his vaccinations.

If you are interested in Campbell, please fill out the adoption application and email Lindy at linla@comcast.net.
The tax deductible donation for Campbell is $300.
