My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Guff and Luna have come to us from a family where they were very well loved. They are exceptional companions, well socialized, friendly with everyone, affectionate, loving, eager to please and just total sweethearts. Luna is a bit of a Diva and Guff being the gentleman he is, allows Luna to think she is the boss. We would love to see these two dogs go to their new home together as they get along famously other than Luna can be a little too demanding with Guff, and Guff being such a push over, he can often get the short end of the stick.

Guff is a handsome, young, Bull Mastiff mix. He is a man’s man: kind, gentle, and rough and tumble when appropriate. He listens well, learns quickly, and is a real gentleman. He has beautiful eyes and is very emotionally attuned to his humans. He is also very receptive to having his name called and is always eager to participate in any human activities. Guff is just 1 1/2 years old and weighs approximately 125 lbs.

Luna follows Guff around and is his number one fan. Luna is a young female Pug. They have a very special relationship together. She is energetic, loves attention, and runs all over the house trying to garner more affection than Guff. She sleeps on the bed at night and loves to curl up in your lap after a good walk/run. Luna is 11 months old and weighs 20 lbs.

Here is what their foster parents had to say:

Both Guff and Luna are very friendly with everyone, including children and any other dogs they have the occasion to meet. Luna has her pug-ish ways of making her presence known when other creatures come near but is still well-behaved. Guff is confident and curious. Luna is slightly more timid than Guff when meeting new people/dogs.

Guff is a gentleman at all times, politely sniffing newcomers and happy tail-wagging but not so excited that he loses his self-control. Luna is a little more excitable but is also more hesitant when meeting new friends. She seems to prefer playing with other dogs her own size (with the notable exception of Guff).

Outside Guff loves running and going for long walks…he’s a bit of a suck in the house, very receptive to hugs and manly reciprocations of affection. He enjoys snoozing on the couch and lounging under the table on hot days. Luna likes to be around Guff and enjoys being picked up and held. They both love running outside, especially at the dog park.

Guff is calm until you run full speed with him outside, then his adrenaline gets elevated and it’s excitement time which means he bounds around like a jumping bean. As for Luna, she is more energetic than Guff generally and runs circles around him wherever they go. They both calm right down when returning to the home. Neither Guff nor Luna exhibit signs of separation anxiety. They are quiet and pleasant in the home. Luna will be vocal when she hears a loud, unfamiliar noise or another dog outside.

Both dogs are fit as a fiddle, both very healthy. Guff is ever the gentleman and also learns quickly. He has never tried to steal food (though is more than happy to oblige when it’s given to him). He waits patiently for instructions from his humans. Luna is not as well trained to commands as Guff is, but follows his lead. They both only chew on designated chewing objects. They both know wait and sit. Guff has learned paw as well. Guff, as a gentleman canine, is fully house-trained. Luna has the occasional accident if not given a well-timed schedule of walks. They both have no problem being crated but prefer to be crated together. Neither Luna nor Guff have any problem on leash, though as a larger dog Guff can sometimes pull fairly hard. They’re completely fine in the car, usually just lying down on the seat.

Guff is a gentle giant who nevertheless loves some manly rough-housing, wrestling, and running when the opportunity presents itself. He loves sticks and will pounce on objects that are thrown. He is sweet-mannered, cuddly in the evenings, and sleeps by the foot of the bed like a furry sentinel. He also seems to build attachments to humans quite quickly.
Luna is a bundle of cuteness and is a hilarious contrast to Guff. She is curious about everything and gets jealous (in a cute way) whenever she sees Guff getting attention.

If you think Guff and Luna would be a welcome addition to your family, please submit an application for consideration. Although we would like to see these two dogs placed together, we will consider individual adoptions as they could be separated without too much issue as they are both young. We will however give priority to anyone willing to adopt both dogs. We think they make a wonderful contrast, they get along well together and it would be ideal opportunity for a family that would enjoy both a big and a small dog in the home.
