My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

, a Spanish surrealist painter, born during the month of May, known for his wide-eyed expression and his pencil thin mustache. Bunny Salvador Dali, an Indiana rescue bun with a wide-eyed expression and a pencil thin mustache, born in the month of May!

Little Sal’s journey began back in Indiana when a local breeder of Rex rabbits was arrested and his “inventory” of nearly 400 rabbits were confiscated by authorities. Overrun with bunnies, the Indiana chapter of the HRS reached out for assistance. Wanting to help our fellow rabbit rescue, our shelter took in 7 of them, including a mama and her litter of 4 babies. After a long road trip, Sal and his siblings arrived in Georgia!

Sal was the oddball out in the litter. A white and brown spotted Standard Rex in a litter of black minis. His mom and siblings were carbon copies, and then there was Sal, who grew larger than his mom at only a few months old. He was the first bun of the litter to be named, thanks to the mustache like markings on his face.

Sal seemed like a complicated bun. He acted like he was in charge of the group but underneath it all, he was chicken. He’d run and hide from the slightest noise, leaving his brothers and sisters wondering what the commotion was all about. It was soon apparent that this big, bossy bunny was really just misunderstood. In truth, this timid and slightly awkward bun was the sweetest and most gentle of the bunch! He takes his treats so gingerly from your fingers and basks in attention and petting. Poor Sal didn’t want to be the odd man out, he just wanted to be the center of someone’s attention!

Now that he and his siblings have gone their separate ways, Sal is blossoming into the charming, quirky and strikingly handsome bunny he was born to be! Sal is still a very young bun and is around 4 months old. Because of his age, his beauty and people’s love of baby buns, Sal likely wont be here long.
