Missy's Story...
Missy, and her younger sister, Foxy, were recently rescued. Even though they have had limited opportunities for socialization, they are both very sweet and crave attention. Missy, a sweet, shy, little tri-color female, Shetland Sheepdog mix is about 1 year old and weighs 16 pounds. She walks well on a leash, rides well in a car and enjoys being active as well as cuddling. She gets along well with other dogs but is a bit afraid of larger dogs until she gets to know them.Because of her timidity and shyness she would probably do best with an adopter that has some experience with dogs. She is spayed, up to date on vaccinations including Bordatella for kennel cough and is heartworm negative. Her good health is being maintained with heartworm and flea/tick prevention. Why Adoption is a Great Option

Missy, a Westport Sheltie, Shetland Sheepdog dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Sheltie, Shetland Sheepdog for sale in Westport, or seeking a Sheltie, Shetland Sheepdog dog from a breeder in Westport.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Westport already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Westport breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Sheltie, Shetland Sheepdog breeders who help with Sheltie, Shetland Sheepdog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Westport paves the way for another one to be saved.
