Rex's Story...
"Hello, friends! My name is REX, and I'm a one-year-old Lab/ Shar-Pei mix who's looking for a new forever home. I'm intelligent and mellow, and I promise to be your devoted friend. I'm calm and independent, and you can bet that I'll be loyal. I'd like to have a yard in my new home so I can play with my toys, and I'd want to take a daily walk so that I can get some exercise and spend time with you. I walk very respectfully on a leash, too. I'd do best in an adult home, or one where the kids are older and considerate of me. I get along pretty well with other mellow dogs who are on the larger side, but I guess it just depends on the other dog. I think you'll be pleased that I've already been house trained, and that I already know several commands. I hope you'll come visit me at the El Cajon Animal Shelter so we can get to know each other better in play yard. Maybe you could toss some toys around for me and scratch me under my neck so you can see what a good boy I am. I hope you'll hurry on over soon. Love, Rex" Kennel #61

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Rex, a El Cajon Labrador Retriever/Shar Pei dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever/Shar Pei for sale in El Cajon, or seeking a Labrador Retriever/Shar Pei dog from a breeder in El Cajon.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in El Cajon already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a El Cajon breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever/Shar Pei breeders who help with Labrador Retriever/Shar Pei rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in El Cajon paves the way for another one to be saved.
