My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

August 23, 2013
My goodness time flies when you have a great dog! Ollie is all border collie. He’s full of energy, has a great spirit, very interested in his owners, VERY toy driven and loves to herd. Most of his border collie instincts are well in check and balanced with his loving, kind and calm demeanor. In new situations he tends to express some anxiety, but not ever in an aggressive or threatening way – he simply whines and looks around a lot. He quickly gets over it and adapts to his surroundings though.

Ollie is great at catching and fetching the ball and the Frisbee, and definitely has your typical border collie endurance. He has the bouncy body language of a puppy, but don’t let him fool you, he is 4.5 years old and plenty mature enough to calm down when it’s time. He does fabulous with other dogs, and absolutely adores children. His previous owners had cats and as far as we know he did fine with them as well. Ollie is a very cuddly companion when it’s not play time. He may rest his head or a paw on your lap, or plop down for a lay on your foot. He’s so sweet and you can tell he just wants to be near his humans, always keeping us close.

Ollie loves to herd anything on two wheels, this is one thing we are trying to correct with him. He has a small obsession with bicycles, scooters and motorcycles – anything with two wheels. Ollie is smart and can be easily distracted by a fun game with a toy, so we’re still working on this one but we don’t see it as a major issue.

Ollie is working on his hairdo: he had a good shaving before he came to us. He has a very thick coat though, and with lots of exercise and a healthy diet, it’s coming in nicely. He could lose some weight, but with his level of energy and time to release it, it won’t take long.

Watch the videos and you’ll see how much of a great player he is, and a swimmer! See Ollie, our Bandit, and our previous foster Lucas all playing at the park!

Ollie is being fostered in Michigan.
