My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bio update 09/28/13: Hi there. It's Blossom in Deerfield. I'm a precious 4-5 yr. old, 11 lb. Yorkie girl. Before coming into rescue I spent my life in a cage making litter after litter of puppies. It was a sad life being treated like a commodity instead of a pet, but the past 6 weeks in my foster home have been wonderful! I have made such great strides in a short time. For example, I have learned to walk on a leash. At times I walk like I have been doing it forever, but then there are times when the sound or sight of a lawn mower or truck stops me dead in my tracks. Foster mom assures me that I am ok and I trust her to help me learn and not be frightened by loud noises. Also, when you live life in a cage you can just pee and poop whenever and wherever you feel like it, so sometimes it's hard to understand why I just cannot do this anymore. Foster mom is teaching me how to hold myself and to only do my business outside. It's lots of work for both of us, but I love the positive attention she gives to me for doing the right thing in the right place! However, there are still times (about once or twice a day) where I just forget my manners and have an accident. She says bad habits are hard to break and is confident I will keep making progress. There are 3 young children in my foster home. They like to pet me and sometimes they act silly around me, but I don't mind. Foster mom has 2 other Yorkies here. Daphne has her own agenda and she just avoids me. Foster mom said not to take it personally, because she is just a grump. The other Yorkie, Jessie, is really cool. We follow each other around and she is teaching me the ropes. We like to lay in the sun together and she spends lots of time kissing me. She always tries to get me to play, but then she just ends up kissing me some more. Foster mom finds this to be hysterical, because in the 5 years that she has been fostering dogs, I am the first one Jessie actually likes! Apparently she treats all other foster dogs in the same way Daphne does. But not me! Foster mom says that I am very special and apparently Jessie knows this too! So I think that the family that adopts me should have at least one other dog for me to hang out with. Well I think that about covers it for now. If you have any questions or want to meet me, please contact my foster mom at yorkierescue1@gmail.com.

Updated Bio 08/29/13: Blossom is a darling 5-6 year old, 11 lb. Yorkie girl. She is friendly, sweet, affectionate, and makes a great companion! She loves to cuddle and follow Foster Mom around everywhere. She does well in an active household and gets along great with kids and other small dogs. Blossom is working on basic obedience skills, including house training and leash training. She attended a dog class today and did great! She even enjoyed the car ride. She is handling all these new life experiences with confidence. (Foster Mom is working on her certification to become a professional dog trainer so if Blossom is adopted within a reasonable distance of Deerfield, Foster Mom will continue training Blossom in your home for free!) Initial Bio 08/15/13: Hi there. My name is Blossom and I've had a sad life up until now, but I feel my happily ever after coming soon! I was used as a breeding dog my entire life and then the breeder decided she didn't like the puppies I was making so she gave me away. Luckily UYR rescued me and they will show me that I am worthy of being loved and I am not disposable. I went to the vet for a full work up and they think I am 6 years old. I weighed in at 10 pounds and got a clean bill of health. I just need to get spayed and have my teeth cleaned. I have only been in my foster home for a short time, but foster mom says I am sweet and friendly. I am a bit nervous of this big change in my life, but I know in time I will adjust to the life I deserve. I am located in Deerfield, so if your interested in being my forever family please email my foster mom at Yorkierescue1@gmail.com or complete an adoption application at www.uyr.us
