My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Updated Bio 08/28/13: Fiona is estimated to be 6-7 years old and she weighs about 8 lbs. She is a loving little girl who has touched Foster Mom's heart. ❤ It's hard to imagine that a dog who has been used and neglected her entire life by humans is ever capable of trusting them again, but Fiona does just that. She is starting to follow routines and is eager to learn. She is easy-going and very friendly. Her little tail is always wagging and it looks like she is running around with a smile on her face. She loves laying outside in the warm sun enjoying the peace and quiet. Sometimes it doesn't last long because 3 human kids and 3 fur kids can get hectic at times, but Fiona handles every situation like a pro. Fiona's ear infection has cleared up and her jaw is recovering nicely after her dental. (Foster Mom is working on her certification to become a professional dog trainer so if Fiona is adopted within a reasonable distance of Deerfield, Foster Mom will continue training Blossom in your home for free!) Initial Bio 08/16/13: Hi there. My name is Fiona. I am around 6 years old and weigh 9 lbs. I am excited to start the next chapter of my life since my past is very sad. I was used as a breeding dog, producing litter after litter of puppies. Typically dogs like me have limited interactions with humans and spend a good portion of our lives in crates. Thankfully UYR rescued me and they will show me that I am worthy of being loved and that there are wonderful people out there who care about me and my well being. I went to the vet for a full work up and I have a nasty ear infection. A couple of weeks of drops should clear it up, but it's unfortunate that it had to go this long without being treated. I am also desperate for a dental cleaning. Can you imagine not brushing your teeth for 6 years? I am looking forward to having my mouth cleaned and having fresh breath! I like giving kisses, so lookout! Also, I have a bit of awkward gait due to standing in a wire crate for so many years. My paws are a bit abnormal, but trust me...it won't slow me down and you might not even notice if I didn't point it out. Right now my hair is pretty thin and course, so foster mom is feeding me a high quality food so it will grow into a beautiful, silky coat. I know I sound like a bit of a mess right now, but my overall health is good and will only get better in the coming weeks. I have only been in my foster home for a short time, but foster mom says I am super sweet and friendly. I run around with a smile on my face. Although I have a botched up haircut, I am very cute. This picture does not do me any justice! I am located in Deerfield and have lots of love to give. If your interested in being my forever family please email my foster mom at Yorkierescue1@gmail.com or complete an adoption application at www.uyr.us
