My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello new friends! Thank-you for clicking on my picture - it's so nice to make new friends! Please let me tell you a little bit about myself so that we can get to know each other better.

My name is Nelson and I came to the wonderful folks at NBS Animal Rescue when my owner did not want to pay for me to have surgery to help my tummy feel better and wanted the vet to put me to sleep...I don't know what that means - I sleep all the time, but I don't think that would have made my tummy feel better. A really wonderful vet tech convinced my owner to sign me over to her so that she would pay for my surgery to fix my belly. I'm a puppy - 10 months my past owner said, and I must have been chewing on a toy that didn't have the tags properly taken off cause I ended up eating a staple and it got stuck in my belly. The nice vet tech paid for me to have the doggy doctor remove the staple and I'm good as new! The nice folks at NBS Animal Rescue offered to help me find my fur-ever home and so here I am!

I am now living in a super duper nice foster home with two other Chihuahua's who are teaching me how to trust new people and enjoy my new life. My foster mom says that I can be pretty shy with new people and just need a little bit of time to open up and trust people - I like to hide behind mom's legs until I know that you won't hurt me. ;-) Boy - watch out when I know I'm safe - I LOVE to give kisses!!! Lots and lots of kisses! My foster Dad says that I'm doing really well with potty training and learning how to walk on a leash - my previous owner didn't teach me either of those skills. I'm doing really great with playing with my canine brothers and sisters and am learning how to enjoy being a young pup.

I'm looking for a home that is quiet without children under 12 years of age - only because I can get scared by loud noises and sudden movements - kids really are super - I just like a calmer environment. I would be great with another mellow dog who wasn't super pushy and hyper - I love to snuggle and play with my foster canine sister! I'd be OK in a fenced yard or with someone who was home to walk me 3-4 times a day.

My adoption fee is $250.00 and includes DHPP vaccine, bordatella vaccine, De-worming, spay/neuter surgery, rabies vaccine, heartworm test, heartworm preventative, flea/tick preventative, microchip insertion, bath, nail trim, ear cleaning, leash and collar and one week's worth of food. If you think that I might be the perfect addition to your family, please contact the awesome volunteers at N.B.S. Animal Rescue at nbsanimalrescue@gmail.com for any additional information or answers to any questions you might have. You can fill out a simple online adoption application at www.nbsar.org and we will start processing your application right away! We do require that persons interested in meeting me apply online and be approved as an adopter first so please visit our website and submit your application today! Our adoption process requires that any pet in your household be current on it's vaccinations and heartworm preventative as well as spayed/neutered unless there is a documented medical reason on file with your veterinarian. Dogs must be current on DHLPP, Rabies, and Heartworm Preventative, cats must be current on Distemper, Rabies, and Heartworm Preventative at the time of application. While I hope that you have fallen in love with me and will fill out an adoption application right away, I understand if I might not be the perfect pup for your family. Would you please help me by sharing my picture and information on your Facebook page, or e-mail to your friends and family members? I'm a great pup and I really deserve a loving family to give all of my love and puppy kisses to! Thank-you for your help!
