We will return your emails however in a timely fashion. Thank you for your understanding in this matter.

Please email to get an adoption application for emailed to you. Please be sure to write Saharah in the subject line of the email so it does not get caught in our junk-mail filter. Please hurry! He will be waiting!

If you cannot adopt but you would like to help you can make a donation or sponsorship to defray the cost of our high vetting bills. Please send to: EARS, 2 Fancher Ave, Salamanca, NY 14779. We also accept donations via Pay Pal at We are in need of help for our spay and neuter clinics and emergency angel fund as more and more animals need our help out of this weather! Any amount is greatly appreciated!!! Did you know that your donation to EARS is also tax-exempt? That's just an added bonus to helping a homeless animal in need!

Why Adopt?

Adopting rather than shopping for your next pet will help to reduce the number of animals euthanized. Adopting a pet actually saves TWO LIVES as you free up space for another animal in need to find lasting love through the wonder of adoption.

You’ll get a pet who is spayed or neutered, vaccinated and healthy. As opposed to purchasing or getting a “free to a good home” pet, you’ll welcome a fully-vetted companion animal in to your life.

Contrary to popular belief, the vast majority of shelter pets are homeless through no fault of their own. Divorce, financial constraints, time limitations and NOT the animal’s health &/or behavior are the most common reasons an animal is left homeless.

You’ll save money. Many pets in the shelter system are already spayed or neutered and if not, shelters often receive a discount from their participating veterinarian and passes the savings on to the adoptive family. Also, adoption fees are much less expensive than buying from a breeder or pet store.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Saharah *rare coloring*, a Salamanca Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Salamanca, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Salamanca.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Salamanca already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Salamanca breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Salamanca paves the way for another one to be saved.
