About Humane Society of Louisiana

About Our Rescue Group...

The Humane Society of Louisiana is a non-profit animal protection agency based in New Orleans. Our statewide mission is to prevent cruelty to animals and to rescue animals from abuse and neglect. The Humane Society networks with independent SPCAs, humane agencies, law enforcement officials, and private citizens to eliminate animal abuse. The Humane Society operates a private, no-kill "safe house" sanctuary, where animals rescued from abuse & neglect are rehabilitated and adopted

Come Meet Our Pets...

We will soon have an office in New Orleans where we will have adoption events scheduled and our new sanctuary in the Mt Hermon area will be open in the next few months for adoption days.

If you need assistance finding a home for an animal in need, please contact us at 1-888-6-HUMANE or info@humanela.org

Our Adoption Process...

The Humane Society's policy is to spay/neuter each animal before releasing him or her to an adoptive home. Potential adopters should be aware that there would be a pre-adoption interview with one of our adoption coordinators. This helps us determine if the adopter and the animal will be a good match. Potential adopters are advised to have a veterinarian selected. We may have a 24-hour waiting period for all animals, to allow adopters time to prepare for their new friends. All cats and dogs are altered before going to their new home. Adoption fees of $125 cover our expenses to spay/neuter, microchip and vaccinate the animal.

Please send us an email if you are interested in giving one of our animals a home
