Lake Girls - Tahoe, Tenaya, Manzanita, Echo and Mono, DOB 5/5/13. These beautiful kittens were rescued at age 7-8 weeks old, and have been in foster care since 7/1/13. Their mom, who appeared to be feral at the time, moved them to a safe backyard with no other animals, and taught the kittens not to trust humans-the smartest thing to do if they were to live as unowned free roaming cats. Mom, it turns out is completely tame in her new indoor-outdoor home. In foster care, the kittens have been learning to trust their foster mom and her friends, but they are still a bit cautious. They purr when they are petted, usually relaxed when gently picked up, and quite playful with each other and with toys. They are very curious and beginning to explore the rooms beyond their basecamp bedroom. They enjoy the company of other (older) cats, particularly one 15 month old male, who has befriended them. The best type of home for these sweet kitties would be one where all family members (kids too) are able to understand that the kits may take some more time to fully trust people, learn about noisy things people use (tv, vacuums, musical instruments, kitchen appliances), so they won't be startled and run and hide.
Tahoe ~ DSH Grey/Buff Tortoiseshell (larger patch of buff on face) ~ Tahoe is curious and playful, likes to pounce and bat at a feather toy on a stick that you wiggle for her. She purrs big time when you pet her and once she knows you, comes for pets and attention. She likes tracker toys and the curved scratcher.
