for one too. Find a pet to adopt.

Fred's Info...

I am already neutered, a special needs pet, up to date with shots, good with kids, good with dogs, and good with cats.

Fred's Story...
Fred is around three years old, 40 pounds. I know, he looks big in the pictures, but he isn't! He loves the farm, but he loves to get on the bed and sleep all day whenever possible. I did not know until last year that he is mostly basenji. He can bark although he tries very hard to talk with many expressive sounds. The main reason I am putting him up for adoption now is that he has allergies and living on a farm makes it touch for him. His skin at the base of his tail gets very raw and red especially in the fall. Being an inside dog would really help his allergies. He lives with cats and other dogs but is pretty high ranking in the pack.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Fred, a Portsmouth Basenji/Cattle Dog dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Basenji/Cattle Dog for sale in Portsmouth, or seeking a Basenji/Cattle Dog dog from a breeder in Portsmouth.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Portsmouth already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Portsmouth breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Basenji/Cattle Dog breeders who help with Basenji/Cattle Dog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Portsmouth paves the way for another one to be saved.
