My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

TAYLOR – 18 month female…. From Taylor’s Foster Mom: “Taylor is becoming the precious companion that her face tells us she will be. Day by day, hour by hour, she decides that life is fun and why not enjoy it; she is becoming acclimated to usual household sounds, although loud, unexpected sounds get her nervous, she doesn't necessarily need to run and hide from them, she just comes over to us for reassurance. Taylor made the transition from needing to eat right outside of her crate, to being the "helper" with dishing out the food and making sure each dog gets a bowl, then she takes her spot, sits pretty, and gets to eat. Same with treats, once her business is finished outside, she prances in with the boys and immediately takes a position at the "treat bar" for her biscuit, which she always takes nicely.

Taylor loves to find bones and chew toys, brings them into her crate for safe keeping, and when she's ready for one will decide on the perfect toy and take her place on a dog bed next to the boys and commence on enjoying. She has become quite the instigator for play...absolutely loves to get any of the boys involved in a game of tag, wrestling, keep away, etc. She has so much confidence these days that she is willing to explore places on her own, she doesn't need to be behind us or in between our legs hardly at all!

Taylor's most favorite thing in the whole wide world is coming up to us, sitting pretty, getting pets and being told what a beautiful girl she is...she will almost always "melt" into a puddle on the floor so we don't forget to give belly rubs, too! I'm telling you that she is going to be fantastic with someone who will give her the time and patience she needs to keep coming out of her shell and enjoy everything life has to offer; we totally adore this little girl, she has the sweetest, kindest face to look into, and her eyes are now looking back at us with brightness and hope for the future!”

TAYLOR – UPDATE SEPT 7th. From Taylor’s foster mom: “Seeing as Taylor is only one of three on the website, I figure it's time to give her some new press. She is a love, very smart, and wants nothing more than to please. She just hasn't figured out how to do so many new things without fretting about them. She is much more used to household noises, including the vacuum cleaner, toaster, microwave, disposal, and dishwasher. Her food bowl sits right in front of the dishwasher and if it's running and she needs to eat, she will now conquer this machine and eat (quickly). We can run the coffee grinder while she's in the kitchen and she won't run all the way to the other side of the house. She has been trying to be good about going near a vehicle, that is after she gets used to being on the leash (it still scares her). What Taylor needs most out of a forever home is someone who lives the word "PATIENCE", literally! She has her good moments, better moments, and going backwards moments, sometimes during one incident. She is food motivated to a point, if she becomes too spooked she will not take any culinary delight, so the operative word is slow but sure, lots and lots of praise, and oodles of reinforcement.

With the time she has spent here, there is a marked difference in her behavior towards people. Instead of running away and hiding, she will now stand her ground and when she is ready, she will commence on to sniffing new people - she has even become comfortable enough with some of the "regulars" here that she will come up to the gate to greet them and looks for pets. Slow but sure...

Oh, one more thing, her new home MUST have a crate, she absolutely needs to have a "Taylor spot".”
