Dexter's Story...
Dexter: 4 yr old chocolate male, neutered, undocked tail and uncropped ears. 13in;, 20 lb. Fully vetted. Rescued from shelter.

Hey all you dog lovers stop and read about me! I am about 4 years old and somehow ended up in a shelter, but my loving foster family gave me a second chance! I just love my family and my other furry friends in the house (dogs only). I have two 4 legged sisters that I just like to lie next to and relax in the sun with and then there is this other 4 legged sister that I just love to play with! Well she usually starts it, but I just can’t pass up a good play time! I love running around in the backyard, long walks through the neighborhood and trails! I love sleeping under the blankets in my crate, but I would just be perfect to snuggle with in bed! My mom calls me a pillow pet! I guess because I just make the best snuggle partner! My family always says I’m perfect because I’m not hyper, but I have good energy to play when someone wants to play with me! My favorite is when mom or dad bring out the toys or deer antlers! I just love to chew on kong chew toys or bones but never on anything else! I’m such a good boy!! My foster parents are so happy because I am also house trained and crate trained so that makes it really easy on them! I would just love to have someone home with me a lot during the day, but I’m okay in my crate or left out until my family comes home! Did I tell you my mom and dad tell everyone how silly and loving I am? Once I trust you (it only takes a short few minutes) I won’t ever let you down! I just love to snuggle up and follow you around to make sure you area okay, but don’t get me wrong I am also really independent and love some alone time! The only thing that scares me is when new people come to house, but my mom just keeps me in the crate until I’m ready to come out and then I get to greet the newcomer. I don’t think I would be best for a house with children, but I am working on new people coming in the house and all those friends would just be too much for me. On a side note I was just diagnosed with Epilepsy, but don’t let that fool you! My mom told me all my blood work says I’m super healthy, but somehow the vet thinks I might have have a head trauma in my last home that is causing these silly seizures. I am now on medicine which they told me would prevent the seizure and so far they’re right! I’m just the same ole good boy they always say I am , but I just have to go back to vet every so often to make sure the medicine is okay with my liver. Someday I might even be able to get off the medicine, but all in good time! Please don’t let that stop you from filling out an application for me because I just want to find the best home that will love me as much as I can love them! I can’t wait to have a family to call my own and a new best friend(s)! I won’t let you down! xo Dexter! If you would like to learn more about me please fill out an application for me at

Notes from foster mom:
Dexter is literally one of the best foresters we have ever had. He warms up really fast and develops a bond that I haven't had with a lot of my other fosters before. We call him our little pillow pet! He is one of the best little snugglers out there and makes you feel so loved! Dexter is such an amazing dog and you would be lucky to have him in your life. He has brought such joy and love to our home!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Dexter, a Nashville Miniature Pinscher dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Miniature Pinscher for sale in Nashville, or seeking a Miniature Pinscher dog from a breeder in Nashville.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Nashville already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Nashville breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Miniature Pinscher breeders who help with Miniature Pinscher rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Nashville paves the way for another one to be saved.
