My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Phoebe - Shetland Sheepdog (Sheltie)/Pomeranian Mix

There is not much cuter face than that of a Sheltie or a Pomeranian and mixing the two breeds certainly didn't take anything away from that fact. Phoebe is a real heartbreaker of a pup.

A beautiful and delightful little dog, Phoebe has many traits of the Sheltie including being dainty, loyal and sensitive but, her colouring is closer to that of the Pom. At just 10 months old she is still very much a puppy and will have the same needs as any other in the way of socialization and obedience training. Like the Sheltie she is shy and does not like to be handled by strangers but with her family she is very loving and affectionate, playful and a real little charmer.

Phoebe is an intelligent dog, learns quickly and is easy to train. She is already fully house trained and has no problem letting you know when she needs to go out. Due to her intelligence, and need for bonding, she will need lots of play and cuddling time, and intelligent toys that keep her busy when she is home alone. She can jump fairly high and would make a good agility dog or be trained for fun outings playing Frisbee in the park. She is not an overly active dog and is content to be where you are and lying at your feet. She likes to sleep on her own little bed and is generally quiet and well behaved in the home. She does like to chew and may still be teething so she needs to have lots of chew toys and rawhide treats kept on hand to keep her busy.

Phoebe is very sensitive and is probably not a good choice for young children as their rough handling and loud noises might cause her to become a nervous dog. She would make an excellent companion for an adult home or a home with older children only. She is a good little watchdog and although she will bark outside when she is playing, she is not an excessive barker in the home.

Phoebe is close to her adult size and currently weighs 22 lbs.
