My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

SPECIAL RESCUE: Dachshund/Pit Bull Terrier puppies, just 8 weeks old. Ada is 7.2 pounds and Elke is 6.2 pounds They are being fostered and need to each go to a home of their own. This is a favorite mixed breed used as bait by dog fighters. These puppies were rescued to save them from such a terrible fate. These great little dogs need puppy training and a safe home away from those who would harm them. As with all puppies we need someone who works at home or is retired and has the time to give the needed attention. Adoption fee: $395.

ELKE may only be 8 weeks old but she is well on her way to acting like she is 6 months old. With some structured walks and feedings, she is already on her way to being potty trained. She loves to antagonize my German Shepherd, not realizing she is so much smaller. She is still getting used to the cats and the neighbor dogs saying hello across the fence. All in all, her disposition is amazing. She is the calmer of the two and is the first to poop out and go to sleep. That's when the snuggles are abundant. She walks on a leash very well for such a young baby. This will be a great family dog as she is being fostered in a home with a 10 year old and a 13 year old. You absolutely have to meet this sweet face. You will be taken in by her tractor beams of cuteness.

Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same sex in a home and children need to be 10 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer no smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc) Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember these are rescues, many were surrendered because of these issues. All our dogs are fully vetted, including all shots, wormer & flea protection, nails trimmed, the works. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $395, no exceptions as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training. Can you give her a happy, carefree life that she deserves? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jrangan@comcast.net - the adoption committee will be in touch with you within 48 hours so please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
