My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We would like to explain that if you are looking for a perfect dog, they are rarely found in rescue. Our dogs often have unknown histories and we do our very best to evaluate each dog with kids, cats, and other dogs as well as determine how they behave in a home. It is important to understand that we have some specific criteria for each dog based on their backgrounds and input from their foster families. The purpose of these criteria is to better match each dog with an appropriate family. While a certain dog might appeal to you based on breed, size, gender or appearance, you may not match the listed criteria. Please understand that we are not trying to make adoption difficult—we are trying to make each adoption successful for the dog and the new family.
PLEASE CLICK ON "READ MORE ABOUT THIS PET" FOR COMPLETE INFORMATION!
If you have children, we suggest that prior to applying for a dog, you view the website http://www.livingwithkidsanddogs.com. The information is excellent and can help you determine which dog would be right for your family.
Jonny is a gentle, loving chihuahua who was rescued from a crowded shelter. He is about 4 years old and weighs 9 pounds. Jonny is a very social chi who loves everyone he meets. In fact, when visiting a hobby farm he was curious about the goats and ran over to check them out!!!! Jonny gets along very well with other small dogs and he does like to play with them. He is probably fine with cats but he should be in a home with teens and adults as he can’t play rough or he will get sore. As long as he uses a harness instead of a collar and has steps to get up and down from the bed, he does fine. But he could easily be hurt if he played with kids or larger dogs. Jonny would just love to live with someone who is home a lot as he is very sweet and loving. Jonny needs to be let out frequently to maintain his house training and he is also crate trained. Jonny is with a 501c3 rescue. His $300 adoption fee is to cover his neuter, heartworm treatment and pills, immunizations, worming, and he has a HomeAgain microchip
To ensure that this dog thrives in his new home and that the adoption works out for the dog and your family, these are the requirements for adoption. These criteria are not negotiable. If you do not meet these criteria, please choose another dog that will work out better for your family.

• Homeowners: Not Required, townhome would work out

• Status of adopter: 25+

• Previous dog owning experience: Required

• Age of children: Teens and up

• Another dog in the home: Does great with other dogs but they must be small

• Cat(s) in the home: Not tested with cats

• Fenced yard: Strongly preferred but will potty on a leash

• Time alone on work days: Can be home for 4-6 hours crated.
