Sampson's Story...
Sampson is a 3-4 year old Newfoundland mix. He is 60 pounds. This is one fantastic dog. He is super gentle, good with kids and other dogs. He is happy and calm and very loving. It appears that his hair was cut possibly in the spring and is in the process of growing out. I did have to shave his tail, as it was very matted. He will have a beautiful swag tail when it grows back out. He was rescued from a high kill shelter and deserves a wonderful family. (TIA)

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Sampson, a Harrisonburg Newfoundland dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Newfoundland for sale in Harrisonburg, or seeking a Newfoundland dog from a breeder in Harrisonburg.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Harrisonburg already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Harrisonburg breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Newfoundland breeders who help with Newfoundland rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Harrisonburg paves the way for another one to be saved.
