My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Whelped: Jul 01, 2011. This is an estimated date.

Up-to-date, neutered, micro-chipped, heartworm negative, and lyme positive (effects of which are treatable by antibiotics).

Hi there! My name is Joker, and I'm 36 pounds of love! I've only been called Joker for a little while, but I kinda like it and will come running when you call my name.

My foster mom says I'm a really sweet boy. I know to do my business outside, and even though I have a lot of energy, I calm down when it's time to chill. I love to go on walks, but I get so excited I will try to take YOU for a walk. I'm working on that.

I love kids, but I'm really strong and could accidentally knock over smaller children, so I would love a home with older children. Another dog my size would be great too, because I love to play! I live with three pugs and a cat right now in my foster home. I'm really curious about them, and I'm trying to figure out why I look a little bit to like them, so I sniff them a lot. Sometimes the pugs get grumpy with me, but I'm a cream puff, so I just back up and give them their space (well...until I want to sniff them again). I'm a lover, not a fighter.

I like to chase the cat in my foster home, and I wouldn't hurt him on purpose, but he doesn't know that. Even so, a home without cats would probably be the best place for me. I already love my foster family, and follow them around everywhere.

I'm sure once I find my forever home, I'll love them just as much. I was about two years old when I came into the rescue got neutered (whatever that means) shortly after foster care began. Even though I was neutered so late in life, I don't mark in the house (although I LOVE to outside!).

I don't have any nasty heartworms, but unfortunately, I did test positive for Lyme disease. It sounds scarier than it really is, though. I'm taking some medicine now, and even though I will always have Lyme disease, it shouldn't affect me too much. My new family will just need to be aware of the signs of a flare up, and get me some medicine (just antibiotics) when I have one.

Other than that, I'm a pretty healthy boy and available for adoption! My foster parents say I will make someone a great companion. Could that be you???
