Junior's Story...
This fun loving, playful guy is Junior and he is a gorgeous brindle 7mth old neutered Boxer/Bullmastiff mix who would love a forever family to call his own. He is a large dog and is about 50lbs right now with a bit more filling out to go. Junior came to us from a local shelter where he had spent almost 2 months of his puppyhood. Junior is an active and energetic pup and wasn’t faring well in a kennel situation where he wasn’t getting regular exercise or activity. Junior became frustrated and anxious and was not showing well in the adoption centre. The staff recognized that Junior needed more attention than they could provide and contacted us about him. We met Junior and absolutely knew that this was a pup we could help. Junior came home with us that day and he has thrived in his foster home! Junior is a loving, happy and good natured dog who is quite well behaved. He just needed room to run, people to love him, and dog friends to play with. Junior is a perfect example of a great dog that just didn’t show well in a kennel situation and needed a foster home based rescue to truly show his wonderful attributes.

Junior is house trained and crate trained and also has some basic obedience skills. He knows “sit”, “down”, and “stay” and is quite a smart young lad. Junior is very food motivated which makes training him very easy as he will do anything for a treat. He eats his meals with gusto but is not aggressive with his food bowl. He also takes treats nicely and is very mannerly in most things he does. Junior is being fostered in a rural setting and has met and gets along with a vast assortment of animals including horses, cats, goats and chickens. Junior is a good natured pup and he has no enemies, all creatures are his friends. But his true love is other dogs; Junior LOVES other dogs and likes nothing better than to run, wrestle and romp with his foster dog buddies. Junior is being fostered with dogs of all sizes from a tiny ShihPoo to a giant St.Bernard and is great with all of them. He would do best in a home with another young and playful dog that loves to wrestle and run a lot. We are looking for a home for Junior that has another dog of similar energy and playful attitude or has regular contact with a dog that can be Junior’s best friend. Playing with other dogs is a great way for Junior to burn off energy and he gets so much joy from playing that it would be a disservice to him to not have this interaction regularly.

Junior is looking for an active family that is outdoorsy and will take him places and get him out and about. He needs daily exercise and would be an awesome running partner if there is a jogger in the family. He has the energy level of a Boxer so is an active dog that needs to be walked and played with to be happy and content. Junior will mellow with time but right now he is young and needs to get his exercise requirements met. Junior is calm and peaceful in the house when given the chance to get out and play. Junior would do best in a home with a large, fenced in yard. He is athletic so the fencing should be high as he could easily jump a 3 or 4 ft fence. He would be best in a home without small children. He is good natured but he is young, large, and clumsy and would easily knock over young children inadvertently. We would be looking for an adult home for Junior or one with kids over 12 years old. Junior is a cuddler when he’s tired and loves to snuggle up with you for hugs. He thinks he is a lap dog! He likes nothing better than to join you on the couch and lie stretched out across your body for a long nap. He also loves lying on his dog bed and chewing toys. He likes Nylabones and Kongs and any rugged chew toy. He also plays fetch and likes to chase a ball and bring it back to you. Junior has shown a fondness for water and we are sure he would be a dog that would join you in the water at the cottage if that were an option.

Junior is a great dog that has been a pleasure to foster but is in need of a loving forever home now. He needs a family that is experienced with large, powerful dogs and can confidently handle such a dog. We are looking for a family that will continue his training and take him to obedience school to further his skills. We want Junior to continue to be a well-trained and good natured example of his breed mix. He has had a great start in his foster home but it’s time for his family to come along and take over his care and training. If you are looking for a friendly, goofy big pup and preferably have another big goofy dog that needs a friend then Junior might just be perfect for you. He is looking forward to his forever home and is hoping that there is a warm lap there for him to lie on!

An adoption donation of $400 is required. This helps cover our costs for veterinary care including spay/neuter, vaccines, microchip, heartworm test, deworming and whatever else the dog may require.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Junior, a Drumbo Boxer/Bullmastiff dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Boxer/Bullmastiff for sale in Drumbo, or seeking a Boxer/Bullmastiff dog from a breeder in Drumbo.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Drumbo already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Drumbo breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Boxer/Bullmastiff breeders who help with Boxer/Bullmastiff rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Drumbo paves the way for another one to be saved.
