My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Luigi has been through a lot, the last "family" he had left him outside to defend his home and fight with the other cats in the neighborhood. When we were alerted to his situation, we found him hiding under a bush, with no food or water, a large abscess on his side, and one ear almost completely missing. We were horrified and promised Luigi. we would find him a new home where he would be provided for, cherished, and loved.

Despite his bad experiences and his tough appearance (how would you look missing part of an ear!), Luigi is quite the charmer and snuggler when he wants to be. Whenever you walk into his room and sit on the floor, Luigi. immediately comes over to greet you by rubbing your legs and enjoying the head and chin scratches he successfully solicits from you. He LOVES chin & head scratches...not only does his purr motor rumble in satisfaction but he also drools a bit. You'll know when this sweet guy is especially happy because he drools! If you invite him to join you on the couch or bed, he'll jump up, begin purring, and knead the area in order to prepare it just right so he can settle in and curl up next to you! He loves attention but prefers to sit or lay next to you rather than being held. The key to Luigi is all about body language - he enjoys affection and attention from his people, but when he's ready to have some alone time he gives you signals that he expects his people to pick up on, understand, and respect. He likes to be near his people, but he also likes his alone time too.

Luigi loves kitty condos with high perches - not only is it a good retreat for him but it makes a fun place to play with him. When he's on the top of the condo, he loves to have little soft toys tossed up to him so he can bat at them. He'll also chase balls at full speed across the room. Another game he enjoys is trying to grab the feather wand when you place it under the crack of a door. He gets so excited, his tail wags like crazy, and sometimes his whole back end wags! If you make the feather wand weave around the base of his kitty condo, you can get him to go after it round and round in hot pursuit. He propels himself around the base of the post using his hind legs until he stretches the full length of the post. Once he captures it, he bunny kicks the feather with his hind legs!! It's the funniest thing you've ever seen!

Luigi can be quite the talker around mealtime or if he sees you holding treats. He has a funny habit of pushing his water bowl around with his paws so the water moves before he drinks it. Luigi is an avid bird watcher and makes the cutest little chirping noises when a bird gets really close to the window. Luigi would like to be your one and only furry friend in his new home. He could live with another mellow and low-key cat as he has gotten along with those kitties at our feline care center, but he would probably be happiest as your one and only. Our sweet boy is an undemanding fellow that is looking for someone who will understand his needs and provide him the love and care that he deserves. Won't you consider opening your heart up to this special boy?
