Meet Charity! Charity is a wonderful girl with a heart of gold who has been with our group for over 3 years now and was in a shelter for close to a year prior to that. All in all Charity has never had a home to call her own but she hasn't let that get her down. Charity is estimated around 5 years of age however as a stray we do not know anything about her history prior to arrival at the shelter.

Charity adores people of all ages and sizes. She can be a bit overwhelming when first meeting people but is extremely friendly. She does great with children and has been around the child of a volunteer from the time the little girl was 2 years old. Charity is a very loving and loyal dog with a happy-go-lucky attitude. She is constantly happy and up for any adventure she can share with a person.

Charity is the highlight of any play group! She has a very fun personality that allows her to get even the least reluctant dogs romping and running with her. If she doesn't have anyone to play with she has no problem entertaining herself although she normally requires a bath afterwards. She is very playful towards other dogs and other critters in general. Charity has never lived with cats on a day to day basis however she has interacted with various cats throughout her time with us with good results. She doesn't show much interest in the cats in general but has made some honest efforts at getting them to play once or twice.

Charity has been overlooked due to her unknown breed mixture, color, and now age but she is still holding out for the perfect home that will look passed that to the see the love she has to give.

If you would like to share adventures with this wonderful girl please email for an adoption application.

About Tier Haven Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Tier Haven Rescue, Inc. is a non-profit animal rescue agency based in Louisville, KY that specializes in German Shepherds and similar working breeds. Tier Haven realizes that many German Shepherd Dogs (GSDs) find themselves in shelters due to a lack of training and understanding of the breed. Tier Haven is a no-kill rescue which limits the number of dogs we can care for at any given time for this reason Tier Haven focuses on taking dogs from shelters that are in direct risk of euthanasia and has a separate policy for owner surrenders.

Surrender Policy

Tier Haven accepts owner surrenders on a conditional basis due to the large number of dogs in kill shelters. If you have a dog you would like to surrender you must email pictures and the reason for surrendering to Tier Haven does charge a fee for surrendering a dog; $80 for a fully vetted dog (vaccinations, alter, heartworm test) when vet records are provided and $150 for un-vetted dogs.

Our Adoption Process...

Tier Haven requires an adoption application to be completed and processed prior to meeting or adopting any of our dogs. As a completely foster based organization Tier Haven relies on the application to help ensure that adopters are only meeting dogs that are suitable for their household based on various factors. The application is completed via email and you may email us at to obtain an application. When submitting an application please contact your vet clinic and provide them with a release of information and also inform your personal references that they will be contacted.

Once your application is processed you will be contacted by a volunteer to discuss potential dogs and arrange a meet and greet. Since we are a foster based group we only allow up to three (3) dogs on each meet and greet to keep it manageable for everyone. Meet and greets are often held at public locations to respect the privacy of our foster homes and they are scheduled at the discretion of the foster homes.

Tier Haven charges an adoption fee of $250 for each dog. This includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, heart-worm test, micro-chip, and monthly preventative care while with our organization. All medical records are provided at the time of adoption along with an adoption contract.
