Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Lots of dogs know basic commands, but how many know them in two languages? Stewie is a remarkable dog who understands both English and German, and who comes to MWCR from a loving home where he was well trained and well cared for. Unfortunately, his family is moving to Uruguay and cannot take him along, so they made the painful decision to give him up.
Stewie is a well behaved boy who is fully house trained and crate trained. He is very well socialized, both with humans and with other dogs, since his former owner worked in a doggie day care center and took him to work with her. He is used to regular grooming, and though he is a bit nervous about getting on the grooming table, once he is there he does fine. He is good with bathing and regularly has him nails filed down. His family had him shaved into a lion cut for summer, but his fur is growing back nicely and he should have a lovely warm coat by the time the snow flies.
Stewie has lived happily with three young children, including one child who is autistic. He is a very loving and cuddly boy. He will initially bark when he encounters strangers, but once he meets them, he quickly settles down and is his usual, friendly self. He has been raised with two mini dachshunds (perhaps this is where he learned German) and because he visits doggie daycare, he is comfortable and friendly with dogs of all ages and sizes. He likes to think of himself as dominant, but if he is pushed by a genuinely dominate dog, Stewie prefers to hide! Cats terrify him and when he sees one, he either hides or crawls into his owner's lap. For his own peace of mind, Stewie is looking for a feline-free, forever home.
Stewie's original owner believes that he is partially blind, but MWCR's vet could not find any physical abnormalities with his eyes. In any event, his vision does not limit him and he has a great time playing fetch and having fun with his squeaky toys.
Stewie is a sweet, cuddly boy who has been raised with love and care. He will fit beautifully into almost any home, since he is good with children of all ages and with other dogs of all sizes. And if his forever home does not contain a scarey cat, Stewie will say danke schoen!
